"Los bosques del norte de Jalisco se han caracterizado por ser relativamente viejos, sin manejo técnico y en consecuencia, amenazados por incendios forestales y agentes patógenos como plagas y enfermedades. En un diagnóstico reciente se tienen estimaciones de que existen 35,000 hectáreas afectadas por las plantas parásitas conocidas como muérdago. Las especies Psitlacanthus Macrantherus, Arcenthobium Vaginatum. Arcenthobium Globosum, afectan a los pinos, mientras el Psittacanthus y Phorademdron Sp. afectan encinos mastroños."
