Yellow and White Kutsuri or Shoulder Bag
This shoulder bag or kutsuri was woven on a back strap loom using hand-spun wool and is a rare example of the natural yellow dye historically used by the Wixaritari. Three hummingbirds form the main motif. Other designs represent corn and peyote. This kutsuri was dyed, spun and woven by María Sandoval, an expert weaver who had an expansive knowledge of the traditional weaving designs and the plants for making natural dyes used by the Wixarika People.
