INI will provide a course on nutritional orientation for Indigenous communities

The INI, or National Indigenist Institute, was the longest running governmental entity in Mexico to direct policies toward Indigenous communities. Often, the INI acted with good intentions, however, policies were usually designed by non-Indigenous anthropologists, many sought assimilation, and others bared paternalistic tendencies with respect to Mestizo-Indigenous relations.

"In the state of Jalisco, one of the child populations most affected by malnutrition is in the Huichol region, and it is because of this that during this week there will be a course developed by the National Indigenist Institute (INI) in Tuxpán de Bolaños, with the focus on nutritional orientation for comuneros in the centers that tend to Indigenous communities."
