Peyote Conservation-Indigenous Reciprocity Initiative in Mexico

Excerpt from an edited conversation with Isaías Navarrete and Mariola Sánchez during the summer 2022 gathering co-organized by the Wixarika Research Center in Wirikuta. The Chacruna Institute team accompanied us to document our work bringing together young Wixarika students and leaders to hold workshops and community discussions surrounding the defense of Wixarika territory through agro-ecological projects. Chacruna’s Indigenous Reciprocity Initiative helped support these workshops. In this clip we hear Isaías and Mariola address the state of peyote in the face of rising global consumption.
